Selangor FC's key import player, Alvin Fortes, has successfully been called up by the Cape Verde national squad, ranked 72nd in the world by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

Across 39 appearances in his debut season with Selangor FC, Fortes accumulated 3,136 minutes of playing time. His contributions included 20 goals and seven assists, leading to his recognition as the 2024/25 Player of the Season by the Red Giants supporters.

Having last played for Cape Verde in 2018, Fortes expressed his surprise and happiness at his second call-up for the national team, "Who would have thought I would be selected for this call-up after so long? I'm confident the Cape Verde coaching staff have their own plans. This feels like a golden opportunity for me to strengthen the team and make my family, supporters and country proud."

Fortes will be joining players from top leagues for these matches; two against Malaysia on 29th May at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras, and 3rd June at Bukit Jalil Stadium (closed door), and against Georgia on 8th June at Ramaz Shengelia Stadium.
